Regaining your positive outlook

by anna on November 9th, 2006

I have used affirmations for a few years to help my lack of confidence. Affirmations are sentences - usually about 6-10, are sentences that you write down and read them every day. The sentences are a way of speaking back to that inner voice that is being negative!

Each sentence starts with “I”, and is written in the present tense as if the goal to which we aspire has already been achieved. The key is to use emotive words so here is one of mine

“I am delighted that I am comfortable at social events and have made many new friends”

Oh and of course don’t forget the vital one! - ”I enjoy making my affirmations daily”

Write the sentences on a piece of card and read them first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Set them around the areas that your mind is struggling with, areas that are getting you down. Reading them really helps convince you that you can overcome the depression, guilt and fear. Worked for me, - oops I mean

“I am delighted that my blog posts help others to conquer their fear!”
