How your brain works

by anna on January 18th, 2007

I came across this post about how your brain works. It is quite interesting and gives us some ideas of how to relieve stress, which when you lose someone is high.

  1. Walk beside a river and this reduces the hormone cortisol which generates stress.brain.jpg
  2. Solve one old problem in a new way today.
  3. Run from negative people.
  4. Drink water - it is fuel for a stress free brain.
  5. Reflect - and make choices that you can live with.
  6. Laugh

Now when I read this list, I though whoa they are difficult when you are suffering from bereavement. How do you laugh at grief, for instance. Then I had a go, when I was talking to my best friend I relayed stories from the past that were funny and do you know I felt better. Some of these are easier than others, but the question I asked myself was “Do I want to be depressed?” when the answer was no, I knew I had to learn more about the brain and take action.
