Growing through Pain
I was talking to my mum and we were discussing pain. She said something that really struck me. She said life is quite simple to live but you really start to understand life when you suffer loss. You value life more, you value love, you value friends, you value the need to grow through the pain into an even rounder, deeper person. Wow. Then I came across this quote
“If you truly want to grow as a person and learn, you should realize that the universe has enrolled you in a graduate program of life, called loss.” Elisabeth Kubler-Ross![]()
Losing someone is like a test - a test of your resilience, of your ability to experience and grow as a person. When you feel loss you absolutely sense something missing, but through talking to mum I realised that the loss also gives you something. It gives you more life experience, it gives you a greater understanding of how precious life is and you do grow as a person. It seems strange that a loss can lead to a gain - but I feel it is true.
