Dealing with Grief during the Holiday Season
Over at Islandpacket there is an interesting article on dealing with grief during the holiday season. Here is a little snippet but they also suggest 3 sources of reading which I thought I would list here for anyone really suffering with grief. I will post my thoughts later in the week but always remember that this blog is here for you, if you are alone this Christmas or feel isolated, then come to Widows Quest and write about your feelings - sometimes writing helps you to cope with the emotions and also it shows that you are not alone, we are all here for you.
Have some kind of plan “Spend time with friends, family or loved ones, but have an escape. It’s OK to accept invitations, but only accept the ones that don’t feel like an obligation. Drive yourself to holiday parties, so you can leave when you need to leave.”
Don’t isolate yourself “The day doesn’t go away. It’s here and it’s happening. A group setting is conducive to healing.”
Create a new tradition
“If you don’t want to be home for the holidays, go on a trip or do something for yourself that removes you from your regular routine and setting.”
