Allowing children to grieve

by anna on November 8th, 2006

When there are children it can be difficult to know how best to explain the loss of their parent. One way that has always worked for me, especially with younger children, is to encourage them to draw. Ask them to draw their feelings, what they are thinking, what they wish for, what they fear etc. You may even draw together and explain it to each other. littlegirl.jpg

Children often find expressing their emotions difficult so allow them to use music, art, writing for them to explain to you their thoughts.
