Widows Quest

A poem about depression

by anna on January 18th, 2007

I read this today and thought I would share with you. It was written by Jo. A Witt

When I Loved You,
The world was a brighter place,
My burdens weren’t so heavy
And I could laugh and sing
And dance and play.
I felt special
Lying there in your arms.
So that no matter what I faced,
I knew I could make it through,
With you beside me,
Holding my hand,
Lifting me up
When I didn’t have the strength to stand.
An emotional oneness
Shared by two hearts
That made life worth living
That made my world complete.
But when you walked away,
My burdens grew quite heavy,
Almost more than I could bear.
And now once again I must walk alone,
While my heart yearns
For When I Loved You

I know that I am commenting on a very old posting, but I was trying to find out when you had lost your husband. I am a very new widow and just searching for blogs that are NOT written by new moms and such.

My husband died unexpected 2-1/2 weeks ago. I am now back at work and using lunch time to find a new blog (more relevant to me) to read. He was only 56. It is hard to read things like this poem, but it speaks to me. I know that you know what I mean. And I will keep searching through your postings until I find out how long you have been alone. Getting through each day is difficult enough, and writing the thank-you’s makes me tear up.

    Thank you for this blog.
